DECORATIONS
Wow your little one and welcome his or her little guests with a re-creation of Blues Clues mailbox. Just assemble a cluster of three balloons (light, medium and dark blue), tie them to your mailbox, attach a sign that says “Follow Blues Paw Prints to the Party,” and draw blue paw prints with blue chalk up your driveway, down the sidewalk and on into the house.
Decorate the inside with light, medium and dark blue streamers and balloons.
Draw oversized pictures of blues clues out onto blue bristol board with navy blue marker and top each cut out off with a dark blue polka dotted blue party hat with shredded blue streamers coming out the top. Make three or four and use them to decorate your party rooms.
Get some Blue's Clues tapes with songs and games from the show, and play an ongoing Blues Clues video for children to watch.
GAMES and ACTIVITIES
BLUE CLUES STORY TIME
Make Blues Clues character puppets by printing the Blues Clues characters off websites, laminating and attaching them to popsicle sticks. With the help of another creative adult, improvise a Blues Clues story about your child’s birthday party. You may even wish to include a photo of your child as one of the puppets. The children will be enthralled.
BLUE CLUES DOGGY DANCING
As each child arrives, give him or her a set of "blue dog ears" (made with a head band and blue craft foam sewn on) or Blues Clues Floppy Ears. Let them decorate the ears with blue dots (those blue sticky dots used for labeling files available at office goods stores). You could also paint a blue dog nose on each child. Then let the little ones dance around barking like dogs to Blues Clues music!
BIG BLUE BUBBLES AND FUN
Plan for the children to go outside for this activity. Mix a little blue food coloring into a large bottle of bubbles and pour the mixture into Frisbees. Use different household objects like slotted spoons, potato mashers, and so on, and let children make lots of blue bubbles!
BLUE CLUES FOOD
Why not go all blue with the food. First, decorate the table with Blues Clues Tablecover and settings of Blues Clues Plates and Cups and so on. Serve macaroni and white cheese dinner with a few drops of blue food coloring, or any potato or pasta salad with blue food coloring. Naturally, serve a blue drink of grape juice, for example, with blue food coloring. Another option would be hot dogs and a snack that’s Blues Clues favorite: graham crackers. For the birthday cake, ice the cake blue of course and use a darker blue to draw a giant "paw print.”
BLUES CLUES LOOT
For loot bags use a blue lunch sacks and label them “Doggie Bags” or get matching sets of Large Pails And Shovels to collect the loot. Give out blue play dough, blue bubbles (again, the blue food coloring), crayons and homemade “handy-dandy notebooks”. All you need to make these is construction paper, a hole punch, and red pipe cleaners. Print off and photocopy pictures of the thinking chair from the web and tape it to red construction paper for each child’s handy dandy cover page. If you are thinking right now "I wish I could buy everything in one pack". Good idea! Why not? Here it is - Blues Clues favor pack - excellent set of toys to please a baby-guest.
