CARE-A-LOT DECOR
For your Care Bear fan’s first birthday party, decorate your home to look like Care-a-lot, the cloud-land home of the Care Bears. Use colored chalk to decorate a path of alternating rainbows and hearts up your driveway and into the front door. Welcome children to your Care-a-lot home by posting a Rainbow Border Personalized Birthday Banner in the entranceway. Get streamers in all the bright colors of the rainbow, and twist them together to create huge spiral rainbows. Get big fluffy clouds (Polyfill or cotton batten) and stick them on the ceilings and blow up several bright rainbow-colored balloons. Use bristol board to cut out bright red hearts and design a rainbow archway over a party room entrance. Add Funshine Bear and Cute and cuddly Myllar Balloons to the rooms as centerpieces.
Fill the rooms up with stuffed Care Bears and other teddy bears and bowls of soft rainbow-colored candy and cotton candy.
As a birthday dinner table centerpiece, tie a rainbow balloon bouquet to a Care Bear. If possible, have Care Bear videos playing in the television room for the children to enjoy.
GAMES and ACTIVITIES
POT O’GOLD AT THE END OF THE RAINBOW
All you need for this fun, simple game is some small buckets and multicolored construction paper. Simply wrap each bucket with a rainbow color (you’ll need as many buckets and colors as there are players) and secure it with tape. Next, fill the buckets with treats that correspond with the rainbow color (for example, fill a red bucket with strawberries, red licorice and a red ball) and hide each bucket in the party rooms. When the children are ready, show them a picture of a rainbow and explain to them how much the Care Bears love rainbows. Explain that Funshine bear loves rainbows especially, because sunshine helps the rainbows be seen after the rain. And Cheer Bear loves rainbows cause they just make everyone so happy! Then tell them that there’s supposed to be a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, and that Funshine and Cheer bear have stored the pots right here, in these rooms. Assign each child a rainbow color by giving them each a corresponding piece of colored paper, and send them to search for their assigned bucket! There’s sure to be a rush of glee and excitement when they find their colored bucket and the “gold” in their pots!
TEDDY BEAR PICNIC
This sweet activity is sure to entertain even the youngest of partygoers. All you really need is a large blanket and some teddy bears, but a sunny day and a backyard or even a visit to the local park, with swings and slides, would add that much more to the fun. Now simply pack up a picnic a basket up with some snacks, like Teddy graham crackers and some juice to fill in Care Bear First Sippy Cups, and of course, load up all the Care Bears and teddy bears you can manage! Now simply entertain with a singsong or even a game of paddy cake, and make sure to get the bears play and dance along!
CARE BEAR HUNT
Here’s another simple game that’s a treat for everyone. To prepare, download colored pictures of the Care Bears (at least as many as the children in attendance), paste them to pieces of cardboard and hide them in a party room. When the children are ready, tell them there are Care Bears hiding in the room, waiting to be found. Once all of the Care Bears have been retrieved, congratulate the children and reward them each with equal portions of Gummy bears, even the children that who weren’t able to find any. Explain that Care Bears like to see all the children share!
FILL THOSE CARE BEAR TUMMIES
Keep those little Care Bear tummies happy with some “Rainbow Fruit Salad” made with strawberries, blueberries, tangerines and pineapple. If they like, add a “cloud” (a dollop of whipped cream) on top of their rainbows! Serve milk or juice in Care Bear Cups and teddy bear shaped cheese or peanut butter and jelly sandwiches (cut out with teddy bear cookie cutters) on Care Bears Plates. For the birthday cake, bake, ice your child’s favorite with light blue icing. Use yellow, red and dark blue icing gel to draw a big rainbow and stars with and add squirts of whipped cream here and there for clouds! Complete the Care Bear look with Care Bears Cake Toppers & Candles! If the kids want ice cream served with their cake, try scooping vanilla with a shake of rainbow sprinkles or rainbow sherbet.
CARE BEAR LOOT
For some fun take home loot, try packing up a Care Bear Loot Bag with a bag of Teddy grahams, Care Bear Twisty Turn and a bag of Gummy bears. Alternativly you can simply buy Care Bears Favor Pack.
