DECORATE THE CASTLE

Roll out the red carpet (use either an old red blanket or red plastic sheeting) that leads up to the door so your little princesses can make a grand entrance. Line the carpet with white outdoor Christmas lights. Put up a custom made Pink Princess Banner over the entranceway. Decorate in pink, lavender and purple balloons and streamers. Highlight with bouquets of artificial or real flowers. Hang streamers from the ceiling with hand made miniature crowns. Cut toilet paper roles into three and cut three circles per role. Use bristol board to cut out three conjoined triangles and stick onto each crown. Cover with tin foil or silver or gold paint, and stick on jewels made from construction paper.

In the grand ballroom, have a small Disco Ball and strew pink or white lights everywhere for an elegant, dreamy fairytale feel. Line table tops with goblets (plastic glasses decorated with stick on gems) and bowls of pink cotton candy.

In the kitchen, design the birthday princess a special "throne" decorated with pink and lavender streamers and matching balloons wrapped around her chair. Then decorate the backs of the other children's chairs with pink and lavender streamers for a princess effect.

PRINCESS PARTY GAMES AND ACTIVITIES

BUILD COOKIE CASTLES

Let each child make her own magical castle with some of her favorite props! Supply an assortment of small cardboard boxes. Cereal, soap, tissue and matchbox containers will do just fine! Have vanilla icing and a spatula ready for gluing purposes. Supply wafer cookies and colorful candies like jellybeans, M&Ms and plenty of colorful sparkles and cake sprinkles, and let them work their magic!

DRAGON EGG HUNT

This a kingdom-wide search for dragon eggs is just like the classic Easter egg hunt. Make a proclamation stating that the Queen has asked all her subjects for their help. Tell the kids that a sneaky dragon has infiltrated the palace walls and left a new batch of fire-breathing dragons to hatch! Use plastic Easter eggs, or pastel painted ping-pong balls, and for each egg found, reward the children with a piece of ornate candy. This game is a perfect lead in for the next game.

SPRAY THE DRAGON

After all the dragon eggs have been found, gather the kids and tell them a quick fairytale. Begin with: "Once upon a time, in a magical kingdom, there lived a beautiful princess. All was happy in the kingdom until one day, the princess discovered that one dragon egg had hatched on the grounds…” For dramatic effect, hold up a "cracked" Easter egg or ping-pong ball, “… and a mighty, fierce, ugly, fire-breathing dragon was on the loose! The royal magician mixed up a big batch of potion called ‘Dragon Repellant’…” prior to the party, purchase some pink spray containers at the dollar store, fill them with water and label them “Dragon Repellant,” and reveal one now, “…and the kingdom needs your help to spray the dragon!" Have dad, or another good sport, pose as the dragon. For costume, get him or her to dress all in green and tie orange fringed material around the mouth and nose area of his or her head to mimic fire. Get the good sport to slink around the open door way or the window while the story’s being told so a few of the kids can spot the dragon. Then tell all the subjects to go spray him with the “Dragon Repellent” as the dragon runs and growls at them. This game is guaranteed to get the dragon volunteer soaked, and get the children to squeal with delight!

PUT A KISS ON THE FROG

Play this princess version of the tried and true party game of “Pin the Tail on the Donkey.” Get a piece of bristol board, draw a frog and color him green. Then put a red “x” in the center of his mouth. Cut out lips from red construction paper and on the back stick double-sided tape. Once you’re ready to start the game, pass each princess contestant a kiss, gently blindfold her with a kerchief, spin her around three times and point her in the direction of the frog. The princess who plants the kiss closest to red “x” wins! Tiny stuffed frogs or miniature "glass slippers" would make sweet prizes for this game.

PRINCESS PARTY DINING

In proper princess fashion, let the birthday princess choose her favorite menu! Serve up the meal on the Princess Ball Plates garnished with edible flowers. Make “Sweet Sparkling Spritzers” with pink Kool-Aid and clear soda pop. For desert, make a cake with all kinds of different colored roses and leaves, and some cupcakes with little green frogs surrounded by hearts. While you’re serving dessert, take out your china and let the birthday girl serve tea (root beer) so she can have her very own little princess tea party!

PRINCESS LOOT BAGS

Some gems for every little princesses loot bag could include: sparkles, mini white satin scented pillows, frog suckers, candy jewelry, Disney Princess Stickers, Princess Crowns and Deluxe Pink and White and Lavender Boas.

For your little girl’s birthday party, make sure she feels like the little princess she is! With these princess party games and princess party ideas, she and her friends will share the story of their fairytale day for happily ever-after!
