DECORATIONS
Get ready for some good clean fun with some of the bubbliest, duckiest décor outside the bathroom! Put a Rubber Ducky Personalized Banner on the front door as a welcome for guests, and over the kitchen doorway, adapt a highway “animal crossing” sign to be a rubber ducky crossing sign, with a mama rubber duck followed by her babies. Use a combination of blue, orange and yellow streamers for a catchy color effect and blue and clear balloons to simulate bubbles. Hang up some bathrobes, towels, washing puffs and back scrubbers, and any of your child’s bathtub safe toys, not least of which should include Rubber Duckies in all the party rooms! Cut out some big duck patterns from yellow bristol board and place those around as well. As a centerpiece for the birthday dinner table, put a rubber ducky in a tub shaped basin and fill it with ping-pong balls to look like bubbles. Make a CD of bath songs like “Rubber Ducky” and “Splish, Splash” on high rotation for the party. Have a bubble machine going for the length of the party in the main room .
GAMES AND ACTIVITIES
RUBBER DUCKIE BATHTIME
This little washing game will delight the children and parents with its emphasis on good, clean washing fun! All you need is a rubber ducky and a washcloth for each child, a washing basin, bars of soap and either some flour, breadcrumbs, syrup or molasses. Before the party take out the rubber duckies and make them look as dirty as possible. Dip them in molasses or corn syrup and roll them in flour, cereal, breadcrumbs, or whatever you’ve got (you get the picture). Store them in a tray in the freezer. Once the children are ready, round them to come around the washbasin and give the rubber duckies a bath. Pass them out on a tray and put each child to work (help them out, of course, if they need it). Once they’ve cleaned their duckies they each get to take their clean ducky home with them!
BUBBLE POPPING CONTEST
Use either a bubble machine or get someone to blow bubbles so the children can catch and pop them by clapping their hands. If you have a cat that’s safe around small children, you may want to let him or her join in! Put on some fun music and let the popping begin!
LITTLE DUCKIE PRINTS
This cute little piece of memorabilia is fun for both the toddlers and even infants in attendance. Just cut up some pieces of blue bristol board for each child and label them with the guest’s name and something cute like: “[Your child’s name] feels pretty ducky because I’ve got a friend like you and that’s pretty lucky! Thanks for coming to my Rubber Duck Party on [date]. Here’s what your hand looked like today!” Once the children are ready, get each child to dip his or her hand into washable yellow paint and leave their print on their page, and ta-da! They each have their very own little duckie print, and a keepsake they’ll get to enjoy all over again when they grow up to be the big ducks!
DUCK FOOD
Try serving "quackers" and cheese and “duck food” like tuna sandwiches cut with a ducky cutout. Pickup some small rubber duckies and place them in a large basin filled with “blue” juice (white grape juice mixed with a few drops of blue food coloring) for a beverage. For a cake, draw in a round blue pond with blue gel frosting place and decorate with small rubber duckies and Ducky Candles .
DUCK LOOT
Pack up the children’s loot in personalized yellow beach buckets with baby wipes, baby shampoo, washcloth, Ducky Bean Bags and bubbles. For a nice added touch, get a sensitive skin bar of soap, wrap it in yellow paper and glue on an orange beak (fold an orange piece of construction paper and cut out a triangle shape) and googley eyes. On small piece of blue paper write "Duck Soap” and, “Splish-splash what a birthday bash!”
Have yourself some ducky fun times with a rubber duck birthday party and all kinds of 1st birthday party games for everyone to enjoy!
