Headquarter’s Decorations
Set the scene for an Incredibles Party with party decorations, Incredibles style. First, drape the front entrance with an Incredibles Banner. Also, recommend in your Incredibles Invitation that the child dress in red. When they arrive, greet the children by providing them with Incredibles Paper Mask, capes, and a homemade Incredibles insignia (the letter “i” with a circle around it) to attach to their clothing (you can download the image off the Internet, trace and color it onto bristol board, and cut them out individually). Drape yellow, red and black streamers and balloons in all the party rooms. Decorate a floor space with Incredibles coloring book pages taped down and crayons for coloring. Cinch the superhero mood by playing tunes from Super Hero’s CD.
Real Superhero Games
INCREDIBLE ACTING
Get the kids to act out there favorite superhero. Fill a hat with several folded up pieces of paper that contain the identity of the superhero. Perhaps it could read like, “(Superhero), you have been summoned for a top secret assignment: without speaking, you must reveal your secret identity to the birthday crowd using your secret special powers! This message will self-destruct. (not really) –Star Command,”. Give their teammates a time limit to guess the superhero.
THE DASH DASH
Dash is the name of the boy in The Incredibles who is a lightning-fast runner. Have a simple tag relay race with two or more teams of an even amount of people, chosen at random. The fastest team gets the first servings of birthday cake!
ELASTAGAME
Design a homemade "Twister" type game so they have to stretch like Elastagirl, aka Mrs. Incredible. Instead of a Twister matt, get an old light colored sheet and write “Elastagame” in the center. Draw twelve circles, evenly spaced, with three sets of four different colors at regular intervals, and tape it to your carpet. On individual scraps of paper, write “right hand, [color],” “left hand, [color],” right leg, [color],” and “left leg, [color]” for each color. Fold and drop the bits of paper into a plastic bag. When you’re ready to start the game, “Elastaref” shakes the bag, reaches in and calls out the body part and the color. All players at once must try to place the body part on a vacant circle of the color. Things will get pretty tangly! Anyone who tumbles has to sit it out, and the last player left in the game is declared “Elastaboy” or “Elastagirl!”
FROZONE GRIN THROW ZONE
This game is based on "throwing" smiles. Frozone is another sidekick superhero in The Incredibles. Sit the kids in a circle. Choose one as "It" (ie "Frozone") to begin the game. All kids except Frozone must put on a frown-y or sad face, while Frozone is the only one allowed to smile. The Frozone child has 30 seconds to mug it up, trying to make the other kids break their frown-y/sad faces. Anyone who breaks into even the smallest smile is "out". After 30 seconds is up and the children who have smiled are out of the circle (if any), Frozone pretends to wipe off his or her grin, puts on a frown-y or sad face, and "throws" the smile to someone else, who now becomes the new Frozone. This goes on until the only one left is declared Frozone, the winner.
WHAT SUPERHEROES AM I GAME
This game is played like "Who Am I." Before the party, write super powers onto sticker mail labels: X-ray vision, leaping, speediness, flying, invisibility, etc. Once the kids are assembled for the game, place a sticker on each player’s back. Remind everyone not to directly tell them what their superpower is! The object of the game is to guess your super power by asking other players to read it and act it out.If you have non-readers you can draw pictures.
FOOD FOR SUPERHEROES
Serve up some trible decker superhero sandwiches on Incredibles Plates. Pour your choice of incredible drink in the Incredible Cups, and for desert, make the Incredibles Birthday Party complete with a Frozone (frozen) birthday cake!
Superhero Loot
Supply fruit tape and toffee for Elastigirl type-stretchy snacks, and a bag of fresh fruit and vegetables since we all know superheroes need to eat their fruits and vegetables. Other party favors for the Incredible Birthday Party could include: Incredibles Treat Sack, Incredibles Goody Bag, Incredible Glow Rings, Incredibles Stickers, Pez Incredibles and Sticky Ninja Walkers.
